Where in Copenhagen can you knock at the Andersen's doors?
This string of colourful waterfront houses is absolutely iconic for today's visitors and citizens of Copenhagen. Together with it, Nyhavn (that's how the street is called) was literally home for H.C. Andersen β he lived in three(!) of the fairytale-looking buildings located here.
Find the houses:
π£ when walking,
look for the neighbouring red and orange buildings on the even side of the street β the orange one hosts a souvenir shop named after the writer;
when reaching the end of Nyhavn, look for a thin whitish building where there is a cafe also named after H.C. Andersen.
Of course, each of the houses has a dedicated commemorative plaque or another sign indicating the location which once used to be H.C. Andersen's place of residence.
