Hans Christian Andersen
A master of weaving magic out of melancholy, Andersen could make everyone cry with a story about a lonely duckling or a mermaid with terrible relationship luck. Awkward in social situations but charming on the page, Andersen became an international literary star focused on making childhood special.

This string of colourful waterfront houses is absolutely iconic for today's visitors and citizens of Copenhagen. Meanwhile, Nyhavn (that's how the street is called) was literally home for H.C.Andersen β he lived in three(!) of the fairytale-looking buildings located there.

Tips to find the houses:
π£ when walking,
look for the neighbouring red and orange buildings on the even side of street β the orange one hosts a souvenir shop named after the writer;
coming closer to the end of Nyhavn, look for a thin whitish building where there is a cafe also named after H.C.Andersen.
Of course, each of the houses has a dedicated commemorative plaque or another sign indicating the location having been H.C.Andersen's place of residence.
